First Connection
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- Your PLC’s IP address (e.g.
192.168.0.1) - A WebServer user account with at least read access (create one in TIA Portal — see WebServer Setup)
- Network connectivity from your PC to the PLC (ping it first to confirm)
Connecting
Section titled “Connecting”-
Open Settings
Click the gear icon in the left sidebar or navigate to Settings → Connections.
-
Enter the PLC IP
Type the PLC’s IP address in the PLC IP Address field. Do not include
http://orhttps://— the app handles the protocol automatically. -
Enter your credentials
Type your WebServer username and password. The password is never saved to disk — you will need to enter it each time you start the app.
-
Click Connect
The status indicator next to the Connect button will turn green once the session is established. If it stays red, check the Troubleshooting page.
What happens after connecting
Section titled “What happens after connecting”Once connected, the Dashboard begins auto-refreshing every 5 seconds:
- CPU Status — operating mode, fault state, hardware details
- Diagnostic Buffer — the last ~50 diagnostic events from the PLC
A 60-second heartbeat keeps your session alive. If the PLC is unreachable for more than a minute, the session expires and you will need to reconnect.
Disconnecting
Section titled “Disconnecting”Click Disconnect in Settings → Connections, or simply close the app. The PLC session ends automatically.
